Half would be 5/8 because you multiply 1/4 by 1/2 to get 1/8 and you see what's half of 1 and it's 1/2 and you make a common denominator by multiplying 1/2 by 4/4 to get 4/8 and you add 4/8 and 1/8 to get 5/8.
