Explain deamination in simple terms?

I'm not quite grasping exactly what deamination is.
The textbook definition I got was "removal of an amino group from an organic compound", but I don't know exactly how to interpret that.

Answer

An amine is a type of functional group found on organic compounds, aka hydrocarbons.
The general formula for one is R-NH2 where R stands for the rest of the hydrocarbon.
In deamination, something causes the hydrocarbon to lose this NH2 group on the end.
Then the amine will be replaced by either a H or another functional group
