the early forms of notes in the middle ages are called what?

A> plainchants b>cadences C>neumes D

Answer

C. They where normally found in Gregorian Chant Music where the pope, priest, etc., would sing a line and the congregation would repeat it.
That's what a plainchant or plainsong is.
A cadence could also have neumes but that form of music did not come until later.
